You may experience an error message that looks like this while trying to change your password using the passwd command:

passwd: Authentication token manipulation error

One of the most common reasons for this is a lack of available disk space. As such, you should check to ensure you have sufficient space (i.e. using the df -h command). If you don't, you can either look at freeing up space or potentially adding additional space.
